FHA Underwriter

Embrace Home Loans is looking for FHA mortgage underwriters to staff offices in Newport, RI; Atlanta, GA; Florence, SC; Ocala, FL, and Jacksonville, FL. Job Summary Handle underwriting of FHA loans in accordance with company and investor guidelines. Complete analysis of loan files to determine complinance with company, investor, and FHA guidelines. Evaluate entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans to ensure an investment quality product. Check accuracy of calculations. Recommend the loan disposition for loan amounts in excess of authorized limit to team leader. Communicate loan decisions to appropriate parties verbally and in writing. Maintain a productivity level of 4-8 loans per day and comply with company policy of expedient underwriting and clearing conditions turnaround time. Be available to team leaders and processors for general guideline inerpretaitons and questions on specific loan files. Respond to post closing reviews and audits in a timely fashion. Perform related duties as directed by team leader. Job Requirements Minimum of two years processing experience and one year residential first mortgage underwriting experience with sound working knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and FHA underwriting guidelines (VA and USDA experience a plus) Good writing and oral communication skills. Analytical ability with an aptitude for figures. Ability to effectively interact with all branch and company personnel. Ability to work effectively under specific time constraints. Communicate loan decisions to appropriate parties verbally and in writing. Detail oriented.
